Queensland has been producing national and world champions across a wide spectrum of sport, right across the board, for almost a century and a half. If you don't recognise names like Laver, Norman, Perkins, Oneill, Rafter, Webb, Doohan, Lewis, or Eales then you have not been reading the newspapers listening to radio or watching TV for the last 50 years. But these recently completed Athens and Beijing Olympics really take the cake for the Sunshine State and starkly emphasise once and for all that despite our athletes, great leap forward in sport, we lack the one essential to immortalise these champions on home soil, a Queensland Sports Museum.
